Fancy princess crowns

Like most great creations nowadays, this idea started with something on Pinterest. I'm a crazy mad pinner because there are so many fantastic ideas out there, and truthfully, night feedings with the baby are the perfect time to browse Pinterest.

So next month I'm hosting a Fancy Soirée for my daughters 5th birthday party. It's a fancy, princess, tea party and birthday theme all rolled into a fun few hours. The "fancy" being the key word since my daughter thinks Fancy Nancy is too cool!

So along with such a party theme, are of course boas and fancy sun spectacles, and the list goes on... But what's a fancy lady without a crown right?

Okay.... So here's my crowning glory project:

My plan however is to remove the pins once it's stiff enough. Then I'll paint on a layer of modge podge and let it dry. Then I'll spray paint each one with the silver spray paint I have left over from a mirror project I did :)

I'll post the finished product in a few weeks.

A little something for me :)

Something pretty for your special Valentines silkies ;)

Designed by Carol Paget, she used paper and decoupaged wooden coat hangers with three coats of varnish.

Embossed Ribbon

I used "Stiffen Stuff" (found at your local craft/fabric store) and it worked beautifully. You simply spray the ribbon, pop it in the microwave for 30-40 seconds and you'll have nice crisp ribbon. Then you're ready to run it through your Big Shot/Cuttlebug using the embossing folder of your choice.  How cool is that!

I'm working on buying ribbon in bulk from Creative Bag right nearby in the east end.  They have good quality ribbon (wire edged) in wholesale(ish) quantities.  I'll start with different widths of white and colour them using my Copic Markers.

Sticky Stuff... Adhesives

So, I've gotten the question numerous times, why did you sell off all your adhesives?? Well, I found the most economical, great sticking scrapbook-safe adhesive that works on paper, chipboard, cardboard, ribbons, and buttons too!!!

Don't be intimidated by it's size, not only is is comfortable to use, it's accurate, and lasts pretty long before a refill is needed and can't get list on your table! Other than foam squares to raise things on cards, this satisfies ALL my adhesive needs!

It's the Scotch ATG 714!

I buy my refill rolls in Markham, in bulk, at NHS Media, click here, Don't worry, they ship all over!! If you're a scrapbooker though, I'd recommend the acid free Gold version which I use click here.

But you've seen this before in pink, right?!

... at Michaels!!! ... And you've got a 40% off coupon...

Exactly! Back in scrappy history, some crafty gal met a photo framer and saw their endless adhesive gliding out of the ATG gun and said hey! I want one! One thing led to another, and 3M developed the acid free adhesive (gold) for scrapbookers!  But the demand was great! I bought the original red ATG 714 before the pink version and I changed the colour and blinged it up... See pics below :)

But back to the pink... Did you know that the 3M Corp is offering its support to breast cancer research through donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation from the sale of its pink ATG gun? For each gun sold, the company will donate $1.20 to the foundation, with a minimum donation of $25,000.  That's a great reason to save money on adhesives, save plastic in landfills, and support a great cause!

Here's my pre-pink altering adventures in pictures :)

And take a look at the astronomical cost of adhesives!!

And ta daaa!!!  My blinged out ATG gun!

Valentine Bags

hOWLing with this idea!
What a HOOT!

(The hot chocolate spoons and the pineapple are my faves!)

Did you know paper bags can go through the printer?
Design your bag and set the page to print upside down.
Insert the straight edge of the bag into the printer feed
positioned so the smooth surface will get the printout.
(Hey!  You're on your own if you try this,
I'm sure its not recommended in your printer manual lol)

Here's also a great way to paint a heart on a card or on a bag like illustrated here:
